HBADE Annual Leadership and Legacy Ball

DOVER—The Home Builders Association of Delaware (HBA/DE) recognized leaders in the association and industry during their Leadership & Legacy Ball, Saturday December 1st, Sheraton Hotel in Dover, DE.

The event included comments from Delaware State Housing Authority’s Director, Anas Ben Addi, the induction of the 2013 Board of Directors, and presentation of the Leon N Weiner Builder of the Year, Butch Alfieri Associate of the Year, and President’s Distinguished Service Award.

Fred Fortunato, of Benchmark Builders, Inc., was installed for his second term as President of 2013 Board of Directors along with the entire Board, the oaths administered by Kevin Kelly, builder member and National Association of Home Builders 2rd Vice Chairman.  Fortunato’s goals for the coming year are to protect and promote industry objectives through public private partnerships supporting growth and job creation in the housing industry.

Scott Bradley of Bestfield Homes, the Association’s Senior Vice President, was awarded HBA/DE’s most prestigious award –  the Leon N Weiner Builder of the Year. Presenter and last year’s recipient, Mark Grahne, cited Bradley’s unfailing commitment, demonstrated leadership qualities in promoting the industry, and role as chairman for the Association’s Delaware Home Shows.

The Builder and Associate of the Year Awards are awarded annually to members who have best served the interests of fellow members, the association, and the community. HBA/DE hopes to inspire local business members in the industry to seek leadership roles and to continue to work for the good of our Association and our industry.

2012 Butch Alfieri Associate of the Year, Jim McCulley, of Watershed Eco, LLC, passed the torch to Joe Gordon of Joe Gordon LLC, recognizing Gordon’s achievements as one of the nation’s top verifiers of green homes under the National Green Building Standard, his pioneering of the Green for Green program (a program in which home buyers receive rebates for buying green homes) and volunteerism at Association events.

After twenty plus years of service, Jim McCulley was formally recognized as a Life Director of HBA/DE in recognition of his participation on the board and various committees, and extensive support to the Association especially in regards to environmental issues.

Jocelyn Succarotte, a sales representative for LC Homes at their community Timber Farms, was awarded the Presidents Distinguished Service Award for excellence, and dedication to her work in the community and the Home Builders Association of Delaware. Jocelyn is the Vice President of the Sales and Marketing Council of HBA/DE, serves as a member of the Clayton Smyrna Century Club, and will be a new mother in March!
