Brief Legislative Update

Sussex County Stamping Regulation

A huge thank you to Howard and Mark for attending the Sussex County Council meeting and testifying on behalf of HBADE. Because of the team’s hard work, S.C. Council tabled the regulation pending the opinion from the AG’s office. (Note that we are presently working with Sussex County and the AG office on suggested language to clarify that residential plans, sheds, detached garages, etc. do not need to be sealed by engineers or architects. As originally drafted, ALL plans would need to be sealed.)

The legislature returned on January 8th. The first week consisted of the typical formalities — swearing-in ceremonies, for example. This week is filled with inaugural events — Inaugural Ball, State of the State, etc. As the legislature begins to ramp up, Rhett and I are closely monitoring all legislation and will continue our practice of alerting the GA committee should issues arise.  The legislature will be in this week and next before taking a break for JFC hearings. We will return March 12th.
