Coming up in early October, the ICC hearings on the 2015 building codes. As things currently stand – if all the changes that were proposed at the Preliminary Hearings in April were adopted – it would add as much as $42,000 to the cost of a house !!!!
That being said, we need to determine how code officials from around the state think about all these proposed changes and if they plan to attend the ICC Hearings on the proposed 2015 codes which will be held in Atlantic City the first week of October of this year. NAHB staff and Code Committee members will be at the hearing in force but we need to speak to our local code people that are going and educate them on our issues/concern. We encourage all members to become educated about these potential additions to the next building code.
We are organizing efforts on this, but in the meantime next Thursday 9/12/13, Builders Need Their Tools Back: Fixing the 2015 Codes, September 12, 2:00-3:00 PM ET, NAHB Construction, Codes and Standards staff will discuss these proposed changes, along with providing instructions and materials for contacting your code officials to make sure these changes are incorporated.
By the time this webinar is over, you’ll be equipped with the tools that will help you convince voting members to make the right decisions during the Final Action Hearings October 2-10.
This webinar is FREE to NAHB members and available only to members, but you must register.
