You can change a child’s life, volunteer today

The Board of Directors approved Read Aloud Delaware as HBADE’s Volunteer Program.

HBADE is asking members, staff of members, spouses, or anyone with an interest, to volunteer to read to children in this program.  The impact it makes on a child is staggering, knowing that there are people in their community who are invested in their futures.

Visit to complete an online application. Once accepted you will undergo fingerprinting and a background check. Finally, Read Aloud holds an orientation class to provide training. After completion, volunteers are ready to go.  Volunteers can walk in at any time in Dover. However, an appointment is needed for the Wilmington & Georgetown locations.

The single most important thing you can do to help a child become a successful reader is to read aloud as early and as often as possible. Of course, not all children receive this benefit. One of the greatest rewards of volunteering comes from knowing that you’ve helped to improve that child.

You can help a child by giving them the tools they need to succeed later in life. Please consider offering a small amount of your time, it will make a substantial difference!
