Since 1981, September has been designated as NAHB’s Associate Member Appreciation Month.
An annual celebration of our Associates’ contributions to the NAHB federation and our nation’s building industry. Associate Member Appreciation Month is about increasing awareness and appreciation among NAHB’s general membership and leadership of the unique contributions Associate members have made to the association, as well as encouraging programs, services and education for Associate members.
Associate members provide support to NAHB at the local, state and national levels, they volunteer time, talent and treasure to help the association, and they serve on committees and councils, conveying valuable insight and business and management tips. Therefore, designating September as Associate Appreciation Month is just one way of providing the much-deserved visibility and recognition to our invaluable Associate members.
In order to recognize Associate members who have made remarkable contributions to the industry, the Associate of the Year Award was created and is awarded by NAHB. All state and local associations are eligible to nominate a member for this award. One nominee is chosen from each state then a panel of their peers chooses the winner.
