HBA/DE Hosts a Toys For Tots Drive

This winter the Home Builder’s Association of Delaware (HBA/DE) is hosting a Toys For Tots Drive.

Each Christmas, many families are forced to choose between purchasing necessities and paying bills or buying presents. According to the United States Census Bereau, just over 45 Million Americans live in poverty. That equates to about 15 Million children who don’t receive the luxuries that many children are afforded. However, receiving a toy has too much value to simply be labeled a luxury. Receiving a toy often has a positive impact on a child’s outlook on life. Children derive joy and comfort from toys. Whether it’s a stuffed animal to sleep with or a figure to play with, children can more easily cope with their fears and problems when they have a toy to rely on. Something so profound shouldn’t have to be a luxury, but a right. And yet, many children will go without toys this year.

Members of the HBA/DE have already proven that they can make a difference within their community, and there’s no reason to stop now. We can continue to build a better community, one brick at a time. A drop-off box has been placed within the HBA/DE Office. Take some time out of your day to come and help a child in need.
