Salisbury University Residence Halls Achieve LEED Certification

Becker Morgan Group, as part of the Design/Build team with The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, is proud to announce that the recently renovated Salisbury University Chester and Choptank Residence Hall Renovation projects both received LEED Silver Certification from the United States Green Building Council. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification is the recognized standard for measuring building sustainability and is the culmination of a rigorous third party review process confirming the facilities have achieved the environmental goals set forth by the rating system.  Each residence hall is 48,310 sf and 6 stories in height. These projects entailed the complete modernization of the residential environment including replacement of deteriorating building systems, life safety, building code and accessibility upgrades, as well as renovations and additions to the first floor layouts, toilet room renovations, elevators upgrades, and roof replacements. The newly renovated residence halls feature Living Learning Communities with smart classrooms that double as study spaces, suite and cluster-style rooms designed to create unique spaces for a community feel, and large common areas.
