On Thursday, June 25th, 2015, the Supreme Court has ruled once again infavor of the ACA. In a 6 – 3 vote on the case, King v. Burwell, the Supreme Court decided to uphold President Obama’s Affordable Care Act, allowing the continuation of subsidies through federally facilitated exchanges. If the Supreme Court had ruled against the ACA, approximately 6.4 million Americans would have been in jeopardy of losing their health insurance coverage as premiums would have been affordable.
The bottom line is that the Supreme Court has now ruled twice in favor of the Affordable Care Act. The ACA is here to stay. It is now time to move on and refocus ourselves on the next phase of healthcare reform implementation: Compliance and Reporting. If you are not up to speed with employee tracking and documentation, now is the time.
