The Home Builders Association of Delaware would like to introduce their newest employee, as well as touch on some of the changes happening within the office.
My name is Sunny Schmidt, and I am the new Membership and Communications Director. My husband and I came to Delaware in 2003, with the United States Air Force, from Germany. Delaware was a big change from the climate and culture of Europe, but we grew to love the area and decided to stay once my husband retired from the Air Force in 2009. We have two children, a son and a daughter, and a 3 month old grandson. I have an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I have a passion for helping people, and am very excited about being a part of the Home Builders Association of Delaware. I look forward to growing our membership, and continue my work on upcoming events.
As some of you may know, I will be moving south to Florida within the coming month. I have been helping Sunny Schmidt, the Home Builders Association of Delaware’s (HBA/DE) new Membership & Communications Director, in preparing to take over membership operations. Outside of the office, I have been busy with preparations for moving. I will be heading down to somewhere within Central Florida, near Orlando. I’m eager to get down there; however, I do appreciate all that HBA/DE and its members have done for me. This has been a very good experience for me and I thank everyone who has helped me along the way during this last year and a half.
Joseph (my husband for those who are not familiar) and I are very excited and deep into preparations for the upcoming addition to our family. I am happy and consider myself blessed to be a part of this organization. I’ll be out for the greater part of the first quarter focusing on motherhood, but still plan to be involved. This year I am focused on and looking forward to the Delaware Home and Garden Show, refining the Regal Awards, and finding creative ways to grow and engage our membership.
While we have some new and changing faces, some remain unchanged:
Kim Ferrell continues to administer the Green for Green program, including communicating with builders, homebuyers and the Sustainable Energy Utility. As you know, Green for Green provides rebates (funded by the SEU) to new homebuyers of green and above-code energy efficient homes. While Howard Fortunato continues to serve in his capacity as Executive Vice President.
