Bruce Stanley, a member of the Home Builders Association of Delaware, died Wednesday evening.
Together with his wife Carolyn, Bruce owned Stanley Builders and they built single family homes and townhomes in the Newark, Middletown, Pike Creek and other parts of New Castle County.
I became acquainted with Bruce in the mid 1980’s when I began my first tenure with Home Builders around 1985 as he was a builder member on our Board of Directors and later became President in 1989. Bruce was active in many committees including our Golf Committee and he was one of our members that initiated our Louis Capano Sr. Memorial Golf Outings.
Bruce’s accomplishments in construction and service to our industry were recognized by his peers, winning the Leon N Weiner Builder of the Year Award in 2007.
Bruce also served Delaware in the capacity as a National Director on the Board of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)
Bruce was also a pilot and I once flew with him to Washington for meetings held at NAHB headquarters. It was the first time I sat up front in the “co-pilot” seat of a small plane and it was quite an experience but Bruce was completely in control.
Bruce is survived by his wife Carolyn, and his children and grandchildren. A service will be held Sunday December 13, 2015 at the MOT Senior Center in Middletown.
Farewell Bruce, you will be missed.
