International Builders Show Opening Ceremonies Day Tuesday 1/19/16
Tuesday was the official opening of the International Builders Show, the day when all of the educational sessions begin, and when the exhibition halls open to nearly a million square feet of product displays and demonstrations.
The day began with opening ceremonies. After some brief opening comments and a show by Rhythm Extreme, the crowd enjoyed the premiere headline act by Jay Leno. For those who remember his late night show, it was just like his monologue of jokes, except he performed for 20 minutes. Lots of great jokes, a real treat.
Then the halls filled with attendees checking out all the new products. Everyone agreed the crowds were much larger than previous years, surely the exhibitors were happy.
During the day, one presentation was an economic presentation by NAHB’s chief economist, Dr. David Crowe. He was joined by two other economists in an informal setting that had a great deal of q&a with the audience. The good news from them is that the housing market is improving and new housing starts are expected to increase by 13-15% in 2016. Note that anyone that would like a copy of Dr. Crowe’s pdf slides can obtain a copy at firstname.lastname@example.org.
