City of Newark Looking for Residents to Volunteer to be on the Board of Building, Fire, Property Maintenance and Sidewalk Appeals!

Are you a resident of the City of Newark? Would you like to volunteer in your community? The City of Newark is recruiting applicants for its newly formed Board of Building, Fire, Property Maintenance and Sidewalk Appeals. This board has five open member positions and two open alternate positions. Initial terms will be staggered between one and five years; all subsequent terms will be for five years. This board is expected to meet one to three times per year as needed to hear filed appeals of City decisions regarding Chapters 7 (Building), 14 (Fire), 17 (Property Maintenance) and 26, Article III (Sidewalks) of the Code of the City of Newark, Delaware. All applicants must be residents of the City of Newark and must meet at least one of the following professional qualifications: licensed professional engineer or architect; or a builder or superintendent of building construction with at least ten years of experience, five of which shall have been in responsible charge of work.
