Home Builders Association of Delaware Partner to Build Ramp for Local Veteran

June 20, 2017- Dover, DE- Home Builders Association of Delaware (HBADE) partnered with Purple Heart Homes, Dover Federal Credit Union, and HBADE Members to provide a wheelchair ramp for Edward Littlejohn a 94 year-old WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War Veteran.

Purple Heart Homes, brought Home Builders Association of Delaware and Dover Federal Credit Union together to provide all the necessary steps to start construction of the ramp for Mr. Littlejohn.

“We are honored to join with Purple Heart Homes and Dover Federal Credit Union to build a ramp for one of America’s true heroes and a member of the greatest generation”, said James C. McCulley, President of the Home Builders Association of Delaware.

“Community plays a vital and needed role to help our older Veterans to be able to live with dignity for the service and sacrifice they made on our behalf,” said John Gallina, Executive Director of Purple Heart Homes.

“Edward Littlejohn fought for the freedom of our country and it is an honor for us to be able to serve him by building a wheelchair ramp”, said Jeb Jewell, Marketing Director for Dover Federal Credit Union.

Home Builders Association of Delaware would like to thank Bob Taylor, of JS Homes, for providing a building crew, tools, and arranging pick up of materials each day.

We would also like to thank Bill Hare, 2nd District City of Dover Councilmen for coordinating with HBADE and City Offices to aid in a smooth process of obtaining the necessary permits and documentation to build Mr. Littlejohn’s ramp.

Finally, HBADE would like to thank, Purple Heart Homes, Dover Federal Credit Union, and the volunteers who helped make this project successful: John Augustus, Shore United Bank; Scott Bradley, Handler Homes; Mike Dawson, Master Shower Doors; Elcimar DeLima, Station Builders; Josh Green, JS Homes; Bobby Lueke, Master Shower Doors; John Morgan, JS Homes; Mike Reimann, Becker Morgan; Brad Schmidt, USAF; Teresa Swartz, Shore United Bank; Toni Wilhite, Fairway Independent Mortgage; Debra Young, EmpowerAbility; and Avenue Medical for providing refreshments for the volunteers each day.
